Rep basketball is a competitive level of play designed for athletes who are ready to take their game to the next level. It combines skill development, teamwork, and competition—all while keeping the spirit of fun alive.
Players train regularly with experienced coaches, sharpen their fundamentals, and learn advanced strategies. They compete against other top teams across the region, often traveling to tournaments that build both confidence and camaraderie. Along the way, athletes form strong bonds with teammates, celebrate big wins, and grow through every challenge.
Rep basketball isn’t just about playing harder—it’s about growing as a player and as a person.
Teams play anywhere from 16 - 32 games depending on age, skill, and what a team decides. Some teams travel a lot, other's stay closer to home; it often is up to coaches and what the team wants to do from a competitive standpoint. Grimsby teams practice 2 - 3 times a week and then would play games on weekends.
Though the emphasis will still be on fun, friendship and sportsmanship, there will be a greater focus on competition and expectations of commitment will be higher for players. While we encourage all young players to be multi-sport athletes and will NOT ask anyone to quit another sport to focus solely on basketball, the expectation is a commitment to the entire season and a willingness to make all practices and games.
“REP PLAY” is not “EQUAL PLAY!?
If you are considering rep but still have questions, please reach out to coaches below or the executive and we'd be happy to tell you what an amazing and fun experience it can be.
2026-27 Teams & Season (Tryout schedule is coming soon!)
Teams for the 2026-27 season will be based on available coaches and commitment. The availability and success of community based programs like the Grizzlies depends on dedicated community volunteers and parents to fulfil coaching and administrative roles in the Club. Many of our current coaches and executive no longer have athletes in the program — or their players are now in the senior years.
NO NEW TEAMS WILL BE STARTED UNLESS A PARENT OR OTHER PERSON VOLUNTEERS AS TEAM COACH.
Whether you’re new to coaching or have years of experience, we want you on the team! You coach, and the Club takes care of the rest. The Grizzlies provide:
?? Training, mentorship and support for new coaches and organizers
?? Full off-court administrative support, so you can focus on your athletes
?? Honorarium/fee rebates for team coaches
?? A program built on sound fundamentals, player development, and a positive, professional, players-first culture
Help give kids the chance to play this great game and represent their communities in provincial competition by getting involved with the Grizzlies.
